This week has been a long one for me, but it is finally Friday. John came home last night from Japan, so hopefully this weekend we will do something fun. Although John’s idea of something fun is working in the yard
I think it is supposed to be sunny, so I may at least go out and pretend to work in the yard!
It’s Finally Friday
Earthquake!
Like most of you, I was awakened this morning at 4:39 (by my clock) to my bed shaking and a rumbling noise. John is out of town (of course), so it was just me trying to figure out what in the world was going on. Having been sound asleep and now trying to “ride” my shaking bed, it took me a while to realize that this was an earthquake. It scared Annie too because she jumped up off of her pillow and ran over by the bed.  It was over pretty quickly, but needless to say, I was not able to stop my mind from thinking of every possible horrible thing related to earthquakes   Being alone just added to my nervousness.
It was good to get to work this morning to have people around. Then, mid moring, an after-shock tremor hit. I was awake for this one, and it was interesting (and frightening) to feel the rocking build with intensity. I immediatly knew it was an earthquake this time, and not thinking of aftershocks, I was afraid this one was going to be worse. It was obviously not as strong as the earlier one, but it was still frightening. I certainly hope that that is the last one!
Vacation
John and I and Jeff and Judy went to Florida last week for our spring vacation. Since Jeff and Judy had never been to the Magic Kingdom, we decided to spend some time at the parks. We went to Epcot, Magic Kingdom and MGM Studios (now called Hollywood Studios). We had a good time touring the parks, and we walked a lot. Jeff and I kept using all the exercise as permission to eat cookies! (I don’t think that will surprise anyone that knows me and my love of cookies!) We also spent time by the pool soaking up the sunshine (which we have not seen much of here in Illinois). It was a very relaxing week even though we kept busy.Â
I was glad to get back to see Elijah, Josiah and Lily (and Ryan, Sara, Jay and Katherine too). We brought the boys a Davy Crockett hat and a gun, and they were thrilled. My day was made when Elijah came running to me and said, “Grandma, I missed you so much!” It just does not get any better than that!
