Happy Father’s Day!

Yesterday for Father’s Day, we went to Jay and Katherine’s for dinner.  Ryan and the kids came too.  Sara is camping with her mom and aunts, so she was not there.  We had a wonderful time.  The pool was the perfect temperature, and we all got in.  The boys had fun with Grandpa while he chased them all over the pool or threw them up in the air for a splash and a laugh.  Lily watched the boys go off of the diving board, and then decided it was her turn.  She got up on the board, and Ryan put his hand on her chest.  She “jumped” in and laughed, squealed and giggled.  Then, the boys began telling us to watch them as they walked onto the board before their jump.  So, of course, the next time Lily went up on the board she yelled at all of us in her gibberish to watch her.  She then jumped off and screamed with delight.  We all laughed so hard!  It was great.  Katherine took video, so watch Jay’s website for it.  Thanks again Jay and Kat for having us!

It Is Hot

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tracy @ 8:55 pm

Well, today felt like summer.  We have been complaining that summer was never going to get here, and now it is here with a vengance!  The humidity is up, and it was 90 some degrees today.  I hope the humidity drops for now.  We don’t need that until August.  Ready or not, summer is here!  The good news is that Jay and Kat’s pool should warm up now, so that we can go swimming.

Katherine passed her LCSW exam on Friday.  She is now a licensed clinical social worker.  Congratulations Katherine!  She has been studying for this for a while, and I know that she is relieved to have it completed.  Good job Kat!

Whirlpool Stinks!

Filed under: House — Tracy @ 2:49 pm

We have been without hot water since Saturday.  When I woke up Sunday morning, I tried to get some hot water, and it never came.  John checked the hot water heater, and the pilot light was out.  He relit it, but it did not stay lit.  John checked the Whirlpool website, and it said to replace the thermal cupler.  John bought one on Monday, and he replaced it Monday afternoon.  He relit the pilot light, and the water was heating.  I went out to mow since I knew that I would now be able to take a shower afterwards. While I was mowing, the pilot light went out again, so John called Whirlpool back.  Evidently, this is a very frequent problem with Whirlpool hot water heaters.  Nice.  They told John that they would send him the $200 part, and then they would send a repairman to replace it.  The part would not get here until Wednesday, so the repair could not take place until Thursday!  The part did come yesterday-which surprised me.  We also got a message from Sears that we were scheduled for a repairman for Thursday between – wait for it – 8:00 and 5:00!  Nothing like commiting to a time frame!  So, here it is 2:45 Thursday afternoon, and I have not seen nor heard from any repairman.  I don’t put a lot of stock in Sears repair services.  We have heard from other people that their Whirlpool hot water heaters were not very reliable.  If anyone reads this website, you might not want to use Whirlpool products.

What a Beautiful Day!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tracy @ 2:23 pm

The weather today is glorious!  It is in the lower 70′s, sunny and not very humid.  Wow!  We have had our share of rain, heat and humidity already this spring, so I am totally enjoying this great day.  Tomorrow I will have to mow, so I will “enjoy” it in a different way:-)
